Student Senate Meeting
September 14, 2004
Minutes

Reading of the previous minutes:
Minutes were read by Senator Simon
Motion, seconded, approved
Special Guest: Felecia Bumpus
Discussed status of Grounds and intramural games. Due to lack of work-study
staff and office space not much has taken off. Asked senators to talk
up intramural captains meeting.
Executive Board Reports:
- President: Retreat and Leadership Conference have changed.
Retreat is Sunday September 26th, in the fountain lounge at 10:00 am
Leadership Conference is Saturday October 16th
Attendance policy: Must notice an E-board Member 24 hours in advance.
After 2 unexcused and 4 excused a senator's membership is brought before
the senate. Tardiness is ½ an absence.
- Vice President of Programming: Ruben Studdard ticket deadline is extended
to Friday September 24th, the final 12 will be reviewed at 7:30 pm in
the ballroom to pick final three to perform on Monday. All senators
are encouraged to come.
- Vice President of Finance: no report
- Vice President of Public Relations: First committee meeting will be
this Tuesday @ 9:00pm. Special guest- Mike Cunningham or Anika Summers.
- Vice President of Mission and Values: Handed out letters to College
Reps to give to their deans to encourage academic involvement during
Hunger Week.
- Secretary: binders and other senator supplies will soon be provided.
Was suggested by a senators to send Front Gate Public Safety a thank
you letter.
College Representatives Reports:
- Business: talked to dean and introduced himself and exchanged contact
information. Also discussed Titan Idol class conflicts
- Science: Talked to dean and exchanged contact information. Also discussed
Titan Idol class conflicts, biology does not have class that day.
- Next week Education, Engineering, and Liberal Arts will report.
Committee Reports:
- Leadership Conference: Committee Members are Senator Rence, Senator
Wade and Senator Vandaputte. An RSVP sheet has been made for organizations
to fill out. Facilities, supplies and food will be announced later.
Estimated number of organizations is 7. E-board members of organizations
are encouraged to come.
New Business:
- Inauguration: Inauguration is seeking volunteers to work some events.
See Senator Simon for details.
- Safety Street: SPB Annual Events Chair proposed that senate help with
the ballroom portion of the event. Funds will be provided but SPB will
need volunteers to run it. A motion to vote on participating and organizing
safety street was seconded and then approved.
Old Business:
- Shared Governance: times of meetings will soon be sent
- Retreat: Changed to Sunday September 26th at 10:00 am in the Fountain
Lounge. An Email reminder will be sent.
- Office: no office space yet and may not be until second semester
- Grounds: Discussion- petition should contain yes or no question. Possibility
of a committee was brought up, no representative was chosen. Suggested
that each senator get at least 50 petition signatures. Language and
wording was also discussed. Motion to vote on having a petition, seconded,
approved unanimously. Next meeting senators will make a committee and
get a form for the petition.
- Pictures: Pictures will be taken this week and next week.
- Library: ongoing and is a "big feat".
- Letter to Jesuits for NJSLC: Letter has been made and will be at next
meeting for senators to review.
Announcements:
Ruben Studdard Tickets will be free until 12:00 pm Friday, after which
they will be full price $25.
President Simon would like to state that attendance was "pathetic"
and would like to see a full Senate next Tuesday. Also he expressed his
disappointment in those not in attendance. He urges all senators to encourage
each other to attend every meeting.

Meeting was motion to adjourn, seconded, approved. Meeting was adjourned
at 1:35pm.
